Anatomical characteristics and conservation status of endemic campanula betulifolia and c. choruhensis (campanulaceae)
The genus Campanula L., naturally distributed in Northern hemisphere and Mediterranean Region and represented by almost 420 species in the World, comprises 136 taxa including recently recorded new species in our country. More than half of the taxa are endemic to Turkey. In this investigation, two closely relative and endemic species (C. betulifolia C.Koch and C. choruhensis Kit Tan & Sorger) were examined anatomically and IUCN risk categories were reevaluated. Plant samples were collected from Yusufeli district of Artvin province and Herbarium materials were prepared. Morphological observations were performed in herbarium samples, while anatomical examinations were made from fixated specimens in 70% alcohol. Transverse sections of stem and leaf, and paradermal sections of upper and lower epidermis of leaves were prepared manually. Thickness of midrib, lengths and widths of vascular bundles, shape and thickness of leaf lamina were compared between the species and important differences were observed in basal leaves from than cauline leaves of the species. From paradermal sections, amphistomatic type stomata’s lengths, indexes and number of stomata per mm2 were compared among the species. The biggest stomatal lengths were detected in the adaxial surfaces of basal leaves for C. choruhensis, while the smallest ones were observed in the same leaf surfaces of C. betulifolia. According to stomatal numbers per 1 mm2 and stomatal indexes, C. choruhensis has the highest values. Epidermal leaf surfaces are straight in adaxial surfaces of both basal and cauline leaves, whereas undulate-sinuous surfaces are present in abaxial surfaces. This study displays anatomical characteristic of two closely related endemic species here, for the first time

Türkiye’nin bazı Euonymus taksonlarının yaprak morfolojisi ve anotomisi
Recently reported as a new record for the flora of Turkey, Euonymus latifolius(L.) Mill. subsp. latifolius, and E. latifolius (L.) Mill. subsp. cauconis Coode & Cullen are evaluated. In morphologically, two species resemble each other, but E. leiophloeus differs by longer and erect linear wings (10 -15 mm long), smaller capsules (4-5 mm long) and flowers (4- merous). For this examination, several Euonymus specimens were examined in morphologically and six Euonymus accessions from distinct populations are investigated in anatomically. Dorsiventral (=bifacial) type leaf, hypostomatic stomata (only exist on abaxial epidermis), and cyclocytic stomata cells are observed in all examined accessions here. Detailed measurements were performed in accessions. Populations differ in mainly the shape of midrib vascular bundle, accesssory bundles, and upper and lower epidermal cell shape in surface view.

In this study, general information about obtaining Fibonacci and Lucas number sequences from the
rabbit problem is given. Obtaining the golden ratio and phyllotaxis ratio with Fibonacci numbers is
examined. The Fibonacci and Lucas number characteristics of plants belonging to the same species
are the same all over the world. The phyllotaxis ratio of 47 plant taxa and the number of cone spirals
of two pines belonging to Gymnospermae distributed in North East Anatolia were determined. 34 of
47 taxa which phyllotaxis ratio investigated are herbs and 13 ones are woody/scrubs. Three of the
herbaceous plants are endemic (Psephellus straminicephalus(Hub.-Mor.) Wagenitz,
Tripleurospermum fissurale(Sosn.) E.Hossainand Chesneya elegansFomin) and two are rare species
(Callicephalus nitens(M.Bieb. ex Willd.) C.A.Mey.and Cirsium rigidumDC.). With these studies, a
literature contribution was provided to the studies in the field.

Aim of study: We aimed to investigate leaf micromorphology including venation types, and petiole
and leaf blade anatomical characteristics of five woody/scrubs Mediterranean enclaves (Cotinus
coggygria Scop., Rhus coriaria L., Arbutus andrachne L., Punica granatum L. and Jasminum fruticans
L.) in this study.
Area of study: Artvin Province has three distinct climate types. The species studied were collected
from natural habitats in Artvin, where Mediterranean climate type occurs.
Material and methods: Leaves of five species were evaluated micromorphologically and anatomically
by using stereomicroscopy, light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.
Main results: Two species have imparipinnately compound leaves, while three have simple ones. Four
venation types were determined in the species. C. coggygria has channeled anticlinal walls of adaxial
epidermal cells and A. andrachne has striate cuticular ornamentation in the abaxial surfaces. Differently
from others, R. coriaria and J. fruticans have glandular trichomes, and P. granatum has bicollateral
vascular bundle. Secretory canals and druses crystals were detected in some investigated species. Most of
the species have hypostomatic leaf type, but J. fruticans has amphistomatic one. The highest stomata
number and indices per mm2 were observed in P. granatum, while the lowest values were found in J.
fruticans.
Research highlights: Among the species examined, Punica granatum with the highest stomatal
number and indices per mm2
, narrowed and deciduous leaf with epicuticular wax composition has
probably distinctive adaptive strategies to water deficiency and xerophytic habitats.Çalışmanın amacı: Bu çalışmada, beş odunsu/çalı formu Akdeniz enklavı tür (Cotinus coggygria
ve A. andrachne’nin abaksiyal yüzeylerinde çizgili kutikular ornamentasyon tespit edildi.
Leaf anatomy as an additional taxonomy tool for 18 taxa of Matricaria L. and Tripleurospermum Sch Bip. (Anthemideae-Asteraceae) in Turkey
This study concerns the evaluation of leaf anatomical characteristics of the closely related genera Matricaria (4 taxa) and Tripleurospermum (14 endemic taxa, 15 accessions) in Turkey using cluster analysis (CA) and principal component analysis (PCA). All taxa have the same basic leaf structure composed of lower and upper epidermis including anomocytic or anomocytic-anisocytic stomata, parenchymatic mesophyll, and vascular bundle. Statistically significant differences based on ploidy level have been found without generic delimitation. The differences mainly concern stomatal length and the relative size of the vascular bundle. These anatomical characters can be used to distinguish diploid from polyploid taxa of the genera
